Just why are dining tables so great? Unlike other types of furniture, dining tables are actually versatile pieces that you can use not just for your meals, but for other purposes that can be fulfilled in between meals. Given the right materials and the right tools, you can make your dining table work for you in more ways than one. Knowing how to utilize your dining tables in between mealtimes will allow you to fully maximize its capabilities and usage capacity.

For you to be able to imagine what you can do with your dining table in between meals, it is always important for you to picture your daily routine outside the mealtimes. What do you normally do and what you do need in order to accomplish it? If you think about it, there are actually a lot of different things that you can do at the dining table.

Here are a few ideas to get you started so that you can begin to really experience the full extent of your dining table.

Do homework with your kids. One of the best ways to use your dining table, especially if you have young kids who are just starting school, would be to do their homework with them before dinnertime at the dining table. This allows you to interact with your kids and also be able to supervise their work and aid them along they way should they need extra assistance. Compared to leaving them to do so in their own rooms, you will be able to closely monitor their academic progress and enjoy a hands-on role in helping them get high marks in class.

After-dinner games night with the family. Another great way to use your dining table after mealtimes is to conduct a weekly Games Night with your family ‘round the dining table. What better way is there to keep your family together than to stay put at the dining table while the dishes are being cleared and the games are being prepared? This type of event, when done regularly, provides great opportunities for families to have fun, unwind and bond in each other’s presence (something that is rare for families that are only together during mealtimes).

Budgeting and financing sessions with your husband. If it’s that time of the month when you start mapping out your expenses and income, the dining table might be a good place to do it. You can even customize your dining table to have clear glass so that you can write or scribble notes on it with a whiteboard marker. After your session, you can then wipe it clean and use it for dining purposes. Of course, it is important to sterilize and properly clean the table after as it will be used for mealtimes.

At the end of the day, the list goes on, and on, and on. You can probably think of a thousand other things that you can do with your dining tables. The most important thing is that if you are planning to stretch the versatility of your dining table, make sure you have enough resources and materials to do so. If not, well, now would be a good time to start planning it and saving up for it.

If you and your family or house mates spend a great deal of time in your dining room, or if you are fond of throwing dinner parties for friends at home, then custom dining tables may just be the thing for you. With tables that have been specifically designed for whatever purpose you choose, you’ll be able to maximize the use of your custom dining tables.

Your dining table can be customized according to size, design and shape, depending on the things you like. Your specifications can be as simple as just designing a table fit for 7 or 22, or as complex as creating a dining table that is uniquely shaped to suit the atmosphere or décor of your dining area. Whichever elements you throw in, these will be based on how you want your table used and what you want the dining area to look like after.

A word of advice: if you are going for custom dining tables, you might as well get as creative as you like. Making your dining table unique to your taste and personal preferences will make it a showpiece and a very unique furniture piece that will light up your dining area. A quirky or creatively designed dining table will make for a great conversation starter for dinner parties or get togethers.

Remember that when it comes to custom dining tables, you’ll have free rein to get as creative as you like—so think out of the box, but within the limitations of your dining room area. The most important thing to remember when you start thinking of your custom dining tables is that the design and accessories you choose for it should blend in with the rest of the dining furniture, while stand out at the same time.

Good luck and have fun!

kitchen tables

Around the kitchen, more than anywhere else in the house, surface space is important. The convenience of always having space where you can put anything, whether edible or not, on, is a feature that all kitchen tables should have.

Let us start with the most obvious use for kitchen tables: a wide space for putting things on top of. Whether it is a piece of meat you need to marinate, something fresh out of a stove or oven and still piping hot, or a sauce you need to let sit for a while, kitchen tables offer sufficient space for the many things you have to do in the kitchen.

But dining tables or kitchen tables do not need to be simply for the sole purpose of placing things on top of, something that can be managed with a little imagination and creativity. For one thing, dining tables can be thought of as a social space. Think about it: allowing your guests to see and smell the food you prepare as they gather at your dining tables has a lot of social benefits: the food, even the table itself can become a conversation starter, not to mention the table can act as a point where people can gather more easily and formally.

Also, if circumstances call for more table space, your kitchen tables can be used as dining tables as well. This can effectively transform your kitchen into an auxiliary dining area, moreover one than is much easier to access from the kitchen space itself. This accessibility may also be an even bigger advantage for those particular guests who like seeing their food being prepared.

There are many more uses for dining furniture out there. The important part is to be creative, and to always keep an open eye for any opportunities where you can test your creativity with.

If you are hosting your own organic dinner party for the very first time, then you are in for a very interesting, fun-filled, and (possibly) stressful evening. Contrary to what most people think, hosting a dinner party is much harder than it looks—when when done properly, can have the most amazing results, leading to a memorable evening with new (or stronger) friendships.

Don’t feel anxious about how the evening is going to go—the way you host the dinner party is key to how successful (or unsuccessful) it’s going to turn out to be. To help you out, here are a few things to keep in mind.

dining table for dinner party

Prepare in Advance

The important thing is to make all your preparations in advance. Set a date well ahead of time and send out your invitations 2 weeks in advance, giving your guests time to RSVP and let you know whether or not they will be able to come. If, a week after sending your invitations, you find that there are still some people who haven’t gotten back to you, follow them up and get their final confirmation so that you get your total head count to determine the table seating needed.

Once you have confirmed how many guests you are expecting, then it is time to make sure you have all the necessary furniture pieces to accommodate them—these include dining tables, dining chairs, utensils, and more. Make sure that you have enough; if you don’t, you may have to make use of extra chairs or tables, borrow them from someone else, or buy new ones to add to your existing collection.

Next, you will have to prepare your food menu. If you’re planning to serve a variety of organic food options, you’ll need to make your menu in advance so that you can send them out to your guests, especially if they have to choose between two dishes so you know which ones to prepare for them. If it is a potluck party, coordinate with each other a week in advance so that there are no double dishes and people know what they should be bringing.

Be the Ideal Host on the Day

Most first-time dinner party hosts get rattled or stressed on the day of the dinner. The key is to just stay calm and be yourself—as nerves will show in your overall disposition as you greet your guests. If you are expecting important guests, make sure that you are ready to make small talk with them, even whilst you are busy.

Before the guests start arriving, make sure that everything is in place. Check stoves and ovens to see if any of them have been left on, and turn them off. We don’t want any accidents to happen because of nerves or carelessness.

Finally, remember to greet each guest with a smile. As you gather ’round the organic dining table, sit back, relax and enjoy an evening flowing with good food, good conversations, and good company. At the end of the day, it is really how you set the atmosphere for the evening that will determine how the rest of it will go.

Dining tables and kitchen tables, as anyone will tell you, are an invaluable piece of furniture to have around the house. This is because dining tables have a number of uses that is only limited to your imagination. Yes, you read that right: there are probably a hundred and one uses for kitchen tables out there, aside from everyday organic dining!

Some families, for example, like to use their dining tables as temporary space to work in. Either the parents or the children, or even both in some cases, can use the kitchen tables as a workspace: parents can use the table for paperwork, documents, or any other work that requires large amounts of space for light things such as paper, and children can use the same space for homework assignments and projects. The table can even be used for things such as cooling baked goods, marinating meats and all other sorts of kitchen work.

Others like to use their dining room tables as the places in the house where holding meetings takes place. This is most likely because holding meetings in such places as kitchen tables allows people to maintain a degree of professionalism and formality, as other places, such as the living room couch, may be saved for more intimate and informal occasions. Also, this keeps people at eye level with each other. This may sound insignificant until you consider the fact that this allows sights and sounds to be broadcasted more clearly between people, allowing less opportunity for miscommunication. This makes the table an ideal place for such professional and formal purposes. Even less formal meetings can take place here, as the table allows for easy eye contact with the people sitting around it.

There are so many more different uses for organic tables for the kitchen and dining room out there. As said above, you are only really limited by your imagination.
